work within a larger story idea I have had for several years, and try to narrow down the tone and characterizations within the narrative. I’m using 2d animation as it is the medium I think would suit the story best, and it is the medium of animation that films and shows that have most influenced my work use. I want to focus on character interactions between Igneous and Nettle, and use this film to solidify them and illustrate how they could potentially interact in a full show. I hope to use this film as a sort of pitch for Igneous and Nettle’s larger story, which I’m hoping to turn into an animated series.
first motion test of the film. After completing this and several other shots, I made some adjustments to my process. First, I went from doing the entire rough animation, to just doing rough sketches of the key poses and proceeding directly to the cleaned up animation. The process of coloring remained basically the same. For the backgrounds I began to be more precise with adjustment layers, keeping what color gradients and opacity levels I used consistent for most backgrounds within each separate scene.
is the most comfortable within the space. For this scene, Nettle, whose color palette is mostly cool color tones, is the driving force that allows Igneous and Nettle to continue through the cave. In this space, Nettle is the most confident and comfortable in the film, and showcases her tendency to rush into situations. In this section of the cavern, her decisiveness pays off and allows her to overcome the challenge presented, while Igneous is left exasperated by Nettle’s quick but potentially dangerous decision. However, in the following environment...
from his fire, is the driving force in this section of the film. Nettle becomes shaken up, but Igneous is able to calm her down. It is a space he is better suited to, and as a result is able to devise a well to move forward that keeps both of them comfortable. That comfort as a result, like Igneous, gives the space a warm glow, with his fire being the main source of light in this space as opposed to the previous scene where crystals along the wall were the main light source.

I enjoy focusing on the story development part of animation, and am looking to get into 2D animation for either television or games! @Coatofbees https://www.coatofbees.com/ [email protected]
