David Rubin cdr was born in Mexico City and later moved to Los Angeles, California, where he grew up influenced by the extraordinary lives of his parents. His father was notably involved in the liberation of the Bergen-Belsen DP camps after WWII, and his mother survived a Polish concentration camp. David attended California State University, Northridge, where he began his finance studies in 1980. Here, he developed a keen interest in financial structures and investment strategies, leading him to become a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). As the Commissioner of Housing in Los Angeles, he implemented key policies and initiatives that have substantially improved the city’s housing crisis.
