Dr. Ann Marie Egloff was born in Owosso, Michigan, and grew up in a family prioritizing education and community involvement. Her mother, a science teacher, and her father, a school administrator, influenced her deep appreciation for learning and contributing to society. While attending Swartz Creek High School, she excelled academically, earning honors in math and science. Outside the classroom, she was also involved in varsity basketball, track and field, diving, student council, theater, and ballet, showcasing her diverse talents and leadership skills.
After high school, Dr. Egloff pursued a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan, which laid the foundation for her career in biomedical research. She started her professional journey at Warner-Lambert Parke-Davis, where she worked on molecular cloning and evaluated small-molecule inhibitors used to treat cancer and metabolic diseases. Her contributions during this time were recognized through employee awards.
Dr. Egloff’s passion for research led her to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her research focused on immune cell signaling pathways, crucial for understanding how the body responds to various diseases. After completing her PhD, she undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Human Genome Research Institute, where her work on cancer-causing gene mutations earned her recognition for advancing the field of cancer genetics.
Her career flourished at the University of Pittsburgh, where she joined an NIH/NCI-sponsored Cancer Education and Career Development Program. There, she worked on translating laboratory discoveries into clinical applications, focusing on personalized cancer treatments. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, she led research on head and neck cancers and contributed to developing targeted cancer therapies.
In 2015, Dr. Egloff transitioned to Boston University and continued her research and mentorship roles. She is currently involved in groundbreaking work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, focusing on tumor immunology and precision medicine in cancer treatment.
