Frik De Meyere

Frik De Meyere’s career has never followed a straight line—precisely what has made it so impactful. With a background that spans multiple industries and continents, he has established himself as a trusted leader in Belize’s real estate landscape. As the founder of Prime Belize Real Estate, he continues to guide clients through some of the country’s most valuable property opportunities.

Hailing from a farming village near the Dutch border in Belgium, Frik’s early academic pursuits were grounded in technical and emergency service fields. He earned degrees in information technology and emergency medical services through studies in Ghent and Antwerp. His passion for business led him to earn an MBA from Flanders Business School and a second MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.

Frik’s professional career began in Europe, where he worked across various sectors, including real estate development, information systems, food production, cosmetics, and construction. Over more than ten years, he led and invested in over twenty startup ventures. Many of these businesses eventually merged with or were acquired by larger firms. In addition to his entrepreneurial efforts, he oversaw the construction and sale of more than one hundred residential units—developing a deep understanding of both the practical and financial sides of real estate.

In 2004, a business scouting trip to Belize with his partner, Ilse Van Keer, opened a new chapter in Frik’s career. Drawn to the untapped potential of Belize’s property market, he began acquiring land. By 2011, he had relocated with his family to Placencia and joined BMA Real Estate, a small but growing firm.

At the time, BMA handled fewer than fifteen property transactions per year. Over the next decade, Frik helped expand the company’s operations significantly. Under his leadership, annual transactions rose to over one hundred, and the team grew to include over twenty professionals. BMA also broadened its reach by offering high-value listings such as luxury beachfront estates and private islands, attracting clients from North America and Europe.

In 2023, Frik launched Prime Belize Real Estate with a team of former colleagues and local agents. The firm officially opened its doors in January 2024 and was designed with a streamlined structure for quicker response times, flexible scheduling, and better visibility for listings. Today, he manages sales and business development for the firm, which includes various offerings—from vacant land to fully developed private islands.

Frik’s business efforts extend beyond traditional real estate sales. He created 501properties.com, a real estate classifieds platform, and developed Placencia Storage, Belize's largest storage rental facility. Alongside Ilse, he also opened Chillpoint, a café, wine bar, and ice cream shop that has become a staple in the Placencia community.

As a naturalized Belizean citizen and Justice of the Peace, Frik has consistently supported the local community. His impact extends beyond business, from education and sports to public safety and housing programs. Through their shared efforts, he and Ilse have also fostered children and adopted a daughter, cementing their roots in the country that has become home in every sense.
