An exercise from my Animation Mentor class taught by Mike Kunkle! We followed a short script conceived by Mike about a pirate crew and their captain wanting to go water skiing. We had complete freedom to interpret the script how we saw fit and this was mine! Hope you enjoy :)
I've included the short script below!
We open up on mid-day aboard a giant pirate ship crossing through the water in the South Seas.
There is a large group of rowers working hard below deck that are exhausted from the work of powering their ship. They're tired. They're cranky. And they're probably kinda loopy.
Suddenly a bell rings out and the First Mate enters from up on deck to downstairs to the group. Everyone stops rowing to look at him. *
He's much shorter than all of the other pirates.
He makes his way to the front of the group. Everyone watches as he struggles to climb up onto a barrel to speak to them. It's a bit of a process.
He finally gets up onto the barrel, collets himself and makes sure he has their attention, then announces, “Guys, i’ve got Good News . . . and I’ve got Bad News.”
Everyone looks at each other.
“The Good News is . . . double rations for everyone this afternoon!”
They all cheer.
“The Bad News is . . . .the Captain wants to go water-skiing."
Everyone is shocked and bummed.
We Cut or Dissolve to : “2 hours later” . . .to find the pirate ship pulling the captain on water skis.
**The End. **
