League of Legends’ first foray into the mobile market, League of Legends: Blitz, isn’t doing as well as Riot Games’ developers hoped.
In a report published Friday by GamesIndustry.biz, Riot Games’ Chief Strategy Officer Erik Flannigan provided an overview of the game’s launch, which included several “highlights,” including the fact that the company now owns 50 percent of the title’s revenue, along with several performance numbers.
“While the game is performing well across our [data collection] metrics, the launch of Blitz left us with many challenges and concerns,” Flannigan wrote. “We are seeing clear areas for improvement, including player acquisition, player retention and overall performance. While the majority of players are enjoying the free-to-play experience, we’re also receiving reports of players abandoning the game before we can make further improvements to the experience.
