CSS vendor prefixes - Do we still need to use
them? Marthe Vittor
Just so we are all on the same page A
bit of code you add in your CSS. Eventually standardized by the W3’s CSS Working Group.
How it works
100% stable Border-radius Box-shadow Text-shadow Opacity
-webkit- Android, Chrome, iOS and Safari -moz- Mozilla Firefox -ms-
Internet Explorer -o- Opera “Original” prefixes
Browser specific designing is hurting the growth of the open
web and the competition. Monoculture
Stop designing browser specific. Stop UA-sniffing. Avoid prefixes. How to
stop it
Some say they are harmful. Others accept and appreciate. “Love-hate”

Imagine if every browser was to implement the same feature,
but used different approaches. Prefixes prevent chaos!
Mozilla: polygon: 5; /* a pentagon */ “Polygon”
Opera: polygon: pentagon; “Polygon”
Chaos!!
-moz-polygon: 5; /*Firefox support*/ -o-polygon: pentagon; /*Opera support*/ Vendor prefixes
saves the day!
In my opinion yes! There are workarounds if you want
a lighter and neater CSS. Gives us a look into the “future”. Do we still need them?
Thank you for your time!
