  1. Disclaimer •  I’m just a random kinkster •  Participate in

play carefully and consensually •  The information presented in this workshop represents my personal opinion, is for entertainment only, and not intended to be a substitute for professional advice •  Please don’t sue me
  2. Learning outcomes At the end of this workshop, you will

be able to: 1.  Identify your motivation(s) for a scene 2.  Select appropriate forms of impact play to use 3.  Begin to use some implements safely and effectively 4.  Know some strategies for increasing your skill level with desired implements 5.  Undertake physical self-care before, during and after impact play
  3. 1. Motivation •  Fetishism – Implement – Body part – Role/scenario •  Masochism

    – Endorphins – Sensation – Challenge •  Power dynamics – Reinforcing roles – Role play – *Behaviour modification (controversial) – *CNC (advanced) *outside the scope of today’s workshop
  4. 2. Choosing your impact Guiding principles •  Your motivation, or

    ‘scene objective’ •  Top’s skill level •  Bottom’s tolerance
  5. Things that are not equal More intense Harder ≠ ≠

Better ≠ More marks & bruises ≠ More skilled top ≠ More domly dom ≠ More desirable play partner
  6. 3. Strategies for satisfying impact What to use •  Sensation

    v fetish? •  Also consider – Aesthetics – Sound – Intimacy – Top’s skill level
  7. 3. Strategies for satisfying impact Where to hit •  All

bottoms are different, but some generalisations can be made. •  For light strokes, anywhere fleshy (use common sense and caution). •  Scale of risk vs force of hit – Considerwhy have you chosen to hit there?
  8. 3. Strategies for satisfying impact Where to hit •  ‘Sweet

spot’/play zones •  Positioning will change perception of pain •  Some generalisations from my (and others’) experience
  9. 3. Strategies for satisfying impact Controlling intensity •  ‘Intensity’ =

‘pain perceived’ •  Hit harder – For some implements, limited by top’s skill •  Hit faster •  Hit with different material •  Hit a more sensitive spot •  Less warm-up •  Psychological factors
  10. 4. Strategies to improve technique •  Hitting inanimate objects – Necessary

for high-risk/high velocity implements, eg single tails, large canes – Limited feedback •  Practice/low-stakes scenes – Natural communication
  11. Implement-specific skills Hands – Slap fleshy areas with open palm – Cupped

hand to reduce top’s pain – Higher impact – add arm/body rotation – Gloved hands – reduces sting – Punching with fist – assess risks – Face-slapping – assess risks
  12. Implement-specific skills Rigid-handle flogger (multi-tailed) – Variety in materials – Leather v

synthetic – Basic techniques: car wash, thumb point, figure-of-eight Rigid-handled single tails – eg flails, dragon tails – Much finer-grained control required – Intermediate/advanced
  13. Implement-specific skills Whip-handle flogger (multi-tailed) – Can use similar techniques to

floggers – Wrist flick increases force greatly because physics Whip-handled single tails – eg snake whip, signal whip – CAUTION – A&E ask awkward questions (they don’t, really) – Advanced
  14. Implement-specific skills Close range impact toys – Leather paddles – Use dense

wood/plastic with caution – Household/kitchen pervertables (usually made with dense wood/plastic) are often harsher than they look – See silly sex tips from Cosmo magazine.
  15. Use the back of a brush to swat at his

thighs when he steps out of the shower – wet skin is more sensitive Um, don’t do this the first time you spank someone
  16. Implement-specific skills Long range impact toys – Long wooden paddles • Heavy

use will cause bruising and weak spots • Some paddle designs have poor ergonomics – Straps/belts/tawses • Usually have a threshold of force needed, below which it will land poorly • Be aware of landing ‘flat’. Listen for the characteristic sound • Work with your natural movement. Change aim by changing stance
  17. Implement-specific skills Sticks – Canes and cane-like objects, riding crops, switches

    – Beware: low-effort, high-pain – To minimise risk of unintended damage, high force hits require high accuracy
  18. 5. Techniques for self-care Before – Warm up – mentally/physically. Tops

and bottoms – Get in the zone/mood. Create anticipation – Hydrate. Stretch – Prepare your kit and space – Check room temperature, bystanders
  19. 5. Techniques for self-care After – Hydrate/eat – Post-party blues, often mis-leadingly

called ‘sub drop’ – Skin care • Moisturise • Be aware bruising can spread, especially in legs • NO ARNICA
  20. Summary •  Be guided by your scene objective •  Communicate

    •  Don’t play beyond your skill level •  Impact play topping is a physical skill, so pay attention to technique, and practise!
