This talk was delivered at the HackFest 2019 organized by SheHacks Kenya.
The talk shared my insight on the issues i encounter (Lies) as a recruitment manger recruiting entry level infosec analysts and related roles .
The talk is aimed at entry level job seekers but can be consumed by a wider audience.

3. WHY AM SNITCHING •Kwa ground vitu ni different •Too much miseducation •More people !=More skilled people •Potential being ruined by bad habits
4. IT’S RAINING INFOSEC JOBSSSSS Lie: There are a lot of infoSec jobs open. Heard of the InfoSec skill gap? Truth: How many infosec opening have you seen 2019?
5. ON SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Lie: You can get any role as long as you have the skills. Truth: You can get some roles as long as you have the skills.
6. ON PRESENTATION Lie: No one cares about presentation. Truth: Casual is alright, formal is best. Internet doesn’t forget
7. PASSION AND LOVE Lie: They are enough Truth: Talk is cheap Romeo and Juliet died
8. ON DEGREE, CERTS AND BOOTCAMPS Lie: %$%&*^76 8-4-4, Certs and Degree. Nobody can stop reggae Truth: %$%&*^76, @$##%^&*&(&)(*)*)(()&*^%^^%$%$%. You cant be hired (mostly)
9. ON MENTORS AND BOSSES AND GATEKEEPING Lie: We all want what's best for you Truth: I want whats best for me ie self preservation. Listen, learn and keep walking. Be self aware
10. ME vsTHE COMPANY Lie: Me and you forever Truth: We are cogs. Don’t out leave your usefulness. Strive to become better, be an asset. Its all about the money (mostly)
11. JOB HOPING AND JUMPING Lie: Do you, parte and parte Truth No one likes a jumper
12. RIDING THE BUBBLE Truth: Ride the bubble to your advantage before it busts
13. LASTLY…… Be good to each other.
