To accompany the published achievement data, NHS England has published this presentation which highlights the headline figures from the declaration data and provides further information on the Quality Payments Scheme.
a part of the Governments pharmacy reform package* announced in December 2016 The scheme was derived to reward Community Pharmacies for delivering against quality criteria around the themes of clinical effectiveness, patient safety and patient experience. It supports integration of community pharmacy teams and their services into the wider NHS and takes forward elements of digital integration. It is based on a declaration made by contractors on two review dates: 28 April 2017 and 24 November 2017. Up to £75 million will be paid to contractors for meeting the eight quality criteria *w ww.gov.uk/government/publications/community-pharmacy-reforms
pharmacies must first meet four gateway criteria: 1. Provision of at least one specified advanced service 2. NHS Choices entry up to date 3. Ability for staff to send and receive NHS mail 4. Ongoing use of the Electronic Prescription Service Note: Pharmacies without a private consultation area are unable to meet these requirements. Gateway criteria 3
achieves: • 100 points available for the pharmacy to claim over the two review dates • Criteria are weighted based on an assessment of the challenge of achievement and the benefits to patients • 5 criteria can be claimed at both review points and 3 criteria can be claimed at one review point only • Quality payments claimed via an online declaration hosted by the NHS BSA • Each point paid at £64 (this assumes 100% of pharmacies achieve 100 points) in the first instance and a reconciliation payment made to contractors who have claimed to ensure £75 million is delivered through the scheme • The reconciliation payment is capped at £128 per point How it works 4
