  1. ▪ Who here plays video games? On your phone, console

or computer? ▪ Who here feels like they don’t have time to sit down and play video games? ▪ Good! Lets get on with the presentation... Before I begin, just out of interest...
  2. What the...!?! Convergence Web-Based Gaming is a concept I am

currently researching and developing for my Final Year Project at University. The project demonstrates how key web development concepts can be an advantages in a game development progress.
  3. Introducing.... Convergame In order to demonstrate this concept, I have

made a prototype of a platform named ‘Convergame’ (Convergence + Video Game) It’s sort of like an App Store, Steam or Playstation Store. But, it can be accessed anywhere through internet-connected devices!
  4. Top Advantages ▪ One size fits all approach ▪ Portable

to develop... Portable to play! ▪ Easy for Gamers. Easy for Developers.
  5. Taking the concept further... Want to play against your friends?

Data can be sent via web-based technologies such as ‘web sockets’ in order to make a multiplayer game. A game of ‘Pong’ could be developed and one player could use a smartphone while the other player uses a desktop computer.
  6. Taking the concept further... As no game data is required

to be stored permanently on the user’s device we can also do the same to their save data. This means that save data can automatically be uploaded to a server in order to be accessed from any device.
  7. …I just want to play!! One of the biggest time

savers using the platform is that developers can simply push updates to the server and the next time a user plays, their game will be already up to date. Everyone is running on the same version, which means no version fragmentation to maintain!
