COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS Infrastructuring the next generation of activists The Barcelona pilot trains a committed group of environmental activists in the tools and methodologies needed to conduct participatory sensing campaigns. 26. PLAÇA DEL SOL The Neighbourhood Versus The Noise. The Plaça del Sol in Barcelona is a town square that has historically suffered from the noise of drinking into the early hours of the morning by crowds drawn from near and far. Working with the Making Sense team in Barcelona, the neighbourhood association of the Plaça del Sol has been researching and measuring how high in relation to the norm are noise levels around the plaça, and what can be to improve the situation. users 20 PARTICIPANTS wifi Noise ISSUE city Barcelona LOCATION

The Fab City Research Laboratory looks at small scale interventions as triggers for large scale impact in cities and society. Located at IAAC in Barcelona, it operates within the Fab Lab network, and uses it as a distributed source of local knowledge, invention and action in order to address global challenges in an open source and collaborative philosophy. „
