3. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

5. Encouragement vs Discouragement
6. “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8
7. “And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.” Acts 4:36

9. Barnabas sought out the marginalised
10. “And they cast him (Stephen) out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.” Acts 7:58
11. “And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple.” Acts 9:26
12. “But Barnabas took him, brought him to the Apostles, and described for them how on the road Saul had seen the Lord, who had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.” Acts 9:27
13. Barnabas chose the Kingdom 
 over preference
14. Barnabas was swayed by facts 
 not by hearsay
15. Barnabas was humble 
 and discerning
16. “Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the Church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.” Acts 11:25-26
