4. Why • Company SIM card • Mobistar data plan costs 10 EUR / 500Mb • Fon_Belgacom (Telenet Homespot) free • WiFi coverage good in city and improving • More and more public spaces have free WiFi
5. Why Not • 3G / 4G Faster ? • WiFi not everywhere • Telenet Hotspot & Homespot – No synergy with Fon – Limited to 2Gb / month – Homespot not rolled out yet
6. Future ? • Will 3G / 4G replace residential internet like GSM replaced PSTN ? • A lot of people still have PSTN • Will WiFi be everywhere ? • Security of open WiFi ?
7. Discoveries • Belgacom shop Meir Antwerpen does not have FON • Lunchgarden Edegem installed extra free WiFi next to Telenet Hotspot • Lots of bars have free WiFi • App for Telenet Homespot ? • Google+ app has setting to only upload data when in WiFi range
