Living in the Mobile Future

Living in the Mobile Future

This talk was presentated at Startup the Fusion in Madrid, Spain, in June 2014. http://www.startupthefusion.com/

In the old, web dominated world, we knew how things worked. We knew how social login systems solved the registration chasm of death, we knew how their social graphs made otherwise empty experiences rich and engaging by connecting you with your friends in their apps, and how posting to social sites solved the problem of how to get the word out there and grow your business. We've been saying that the future is mobile for years now, and it's good to note that we're already knee deep in that future, 75% of Twitter's traffic is mobile for instance and almost all noticeable new companies these days are mobile as well. Living in a mobile world has lots of new and unique challenges and opportunities and Twitter as an originally mobile company (before it was cool!) has a lot of great experience on how to be successful as a developer, and as a company in this world. I'd like to share our lessons learned, how it's affected how we view the developer ecosystem, and how with our rich history in creating open source and developer focused tools, we're doing the same for the mobile ecosystem.
