Sayem Sobhan Anvir has steered Bashundhara Group from its inception in 1987 as East-West Property Development (Pvt) to become a significant global conglomerate with ventures in over 20 diverse sectors. His leadership was critical in the public listing of Meghna Cement Mills Limited, marking Bashundhara's entry into the financial markets and symbolizing its transition into a public enterprise poised for broader expansion.

Under Anvir’s guidance, Bashundhara Group has embraced cutting-edge technology and innovative business strategies, ensuring prominence in the competitive global market. He was instrumental in acquiring Bangladesh's largest Cutter-Suction dredger, which significantly advanced the nation's infrastructure development capabilities, particularly in executing complex land reclamation projects essential for urban and coastal development.

Anvir expanded the group's scope by establishing Bashundhara Oil and Gas Company Ltd. (BOGCL). This critical move positioned Bashundhara as a key player in the energy sector, providing essential petroleum products for the country's developmental projects. He also pioneered the Bashundhara Gold Refinery Limited, venturing into the precious metals industry and aiming to set new standards for gold processing in Bangladesh.

Recognizing the importance of financial innovation, Anvir facilitated Bashundhara's strategic acquisition of a 25% stake in the Chittagong Stock Exchange via ABG Ltd. This move significantly enhanced the exchange's governance and efficiency, fostering the growth of Bangladesh’s capital markets. He champions a corporate culture focused on ethical practices and employee welfare, managing a workforce of over 50,000 and ensuring that Bashundhara maintains its reputation as a responsible employer.

Regarding industrial development, Anvir led the construction of Bangladesh's largest bitumen plant under BOGCL, dramatically reducing the nation’s reliance on imported bitumen. Furthermore, he is at the forefront of developing the country's largest oil refinery, aiming to decrease Bangladesh's dependency on imported oil and strengthen its economic independence.

Anvir’s influence extends beyond industry to significant urban development projects. He spearheaded the creation of Bashundhara City, an extensive retail and entertainment complex that has become a cornerstone of consumer culture in Dhaka, drawing thousands of visitors daily. He also established the Bashundhara Sports Complex, the largest indoor sports facility in Bangladesh, which has become a central venue for fostering sports and promoting health and wellness in the community.

To complement these extensive operations, Anvir established Bashundhara Logistics, enhancing the group’s logistical capabilities with a fleet of 76 ships, ensuring efficient and reliable domestic and international product distribution.
