Institute of Science Tokyo High School (Science Tokyo High School) is the only science and technology high school affiliated with a national university corporation. Affiliated with the Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), the school promotes educational practices and research in collaboration with the Institute, and many of our graduates pursue higher education and later thrive as researchers, engineers, and other skilled professionals in industry and academia.

Promote innovative education through high school- university collaboration with Science Tokyo Overview and Features • Founded in 1886 as Vocational Course of Institute for Apprentice Training in Commerce and Industry attached to Tokyo Commerce School. • Department of Science and Technology, focused on specialized education, established with a total of 15 classes (five per grade) • Designated as a Super Science High School (SSH) and Super Global High School (SGH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) • Enrollment of 600 students (200 per grade), with 49 full-time teachers and 20 part-time teachers • Students specialize in one of five fields: Applied Chemistry, Information Systems, Mechanical Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Architectural Design from the second year (grade 11) • With inquiry-based learning at the core of the curriculum, all students undertake Project Study in their final year (grade 12) • Pioneering innovative learning through strong high school and university collaborative education with Science Tokyo • Conducting international collaborative research with partner high schools overseas and participating in numerous international science and mathematics contests • Relocation to Science Tokyo Ookayama Campus (Midorigaoka area) scheduled for April 2027

  4. Science Tokyo High School will move from the current Tamachi

    Campus to Ookayama Campus (Midorigaoka area) in Meguro-ku, Tokyo. Construction of two new school buildings, designed for next-generation science and technology education, is currently underway to support this move. Taking full advantage of its new location, the school will strengthen collaboration with Science Tokyo more than ever before. This relocation marks a bold transformation, presenting a new vision for science and technology education in the coming era, and advancing toward the frontier of the field. Educational activities in the new school buildings New educational activities will begin in two new buildings scheduled for completion in FY 2026. Sharing campus facilities with Institute of Science Tokyo High school students have access to facilities on campus, creating a rich and highly attractive learning environment. “Advancing toward the frontier of science and engineering education with Science Tokyo” Promoting high school & university connections and collaboration Deepening high school–university connections and collaboration by leveraging the advantages of being located on an Institute campus.
