The Dravidian University came into existence in the year 1997 by an act of the parliament. It is a State University established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The institute offers full-time degrees in various fields such as management, science,�computer application, physical education, and so on. These courses normally last from two to four years. 3. The University was founded by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in Venkataramannagudem, near Tadepalligudem in West Godavari District, under G.O.Ms.No.134 dated 26-06- 2007. It is the country's second Horticultural University. Andhra Pradesh, as the leading producer of mango, oil palm, chillies, turmeric, sweet orange, and papaya, as well as the second largest producer of total fruits and spices, richly deserves a Horticultural University to increase productivity, sustain productivity, and commercialise horticulture in the state.. Currently, the campus has 2 P.G. courses to meet the needs of 130 Post Graduate students and 27 research scholars pursuing their Msc. and Ph.D., and is supported by 77 faculty members, including Assistant Professors, Teaching Associates, Teaching Assistants, and Resource Faculty, as well as 191 non-teaching staff members. Mission:H owever, uplifting economically and socially disadvantaged students via excellent education and taking up community-oriented initiatives through the best exploitation of human resources to tackle contemporary problems. Likewise, it was managed by the Agricultural Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary to the Government, ATM, as the Special Officer, with assistance from an Officer on Special Duty and a Coordinator drawn from the Achrya NG Ranga Agricultural University. Moreover, in the 2007-08 academic year, three new Horticulture Colleges were established: one in Venkataramannagudem in West Godavari District, one at Mojerla in Mahaboobnagar District, and one at Anantharajupet in Kadapa District. In addition, from the 2007-08 academic year forward, the UG and PG educational programmes offered at Rajendranagar, Hyderabad by Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University were absorbed into Andhra Pradesh Horticultural University..
