Main orthopedic expert

witnessactivity

The activities of the OFI Orthopedic Research Institute include three areas:

Preparation of specialist orthopedic reports,
Research and
Teaching

The expert activity includes questions from the orthopedic / traumatological field. One of the focal points is the interdisciplinary assessment, which is processed with technical experts, but also medical experts from other specialist disciplines.
The injuries and their consequences of traffic accidents are assessed, as well as other issues such as the avoid ability of traffic accidents and the consequences of injuries with or without belt protection. The interdisciplinary assessment can also relate to topics purely in the medical field, such as the issue of performance (reduced earning capacity, professional (in) ability etc.), which is assessed in cooperation with other medical colleagues (including neurological / psychiatric).
The OFI orthopedic expert witness  Research Institute mainly prepares expert reports on behalf of ordinary courts and social courts - for the latter, more often according to §9, ie at the request of the plaintiff. In contrast, in far rarer cases, expert reports are prepared on behalf of various insurance companies and private individuals. All reports are generally prepared to the best of our knowledge and belief and independently of the client.
In the field of research and teaching, there has been an intensive scientific collaboration with the engineering office Schimmelpfennig + Becker from Munster for many years, and in recent years there has also been close scientific collaboration with the Institute for Sports Science, Movement Science Department of the Westphalia Wilhelm’s University of Munster (Head: Prof. . Dr. H. Wagner). The focus here is on questions in the field of traffic accident research.
In the OFI Orthopedic Research Institute, doctoral students who deal with issues relating to traffic accident research are supervised together with the Institute for Sports Science, Movement Science Department of the Westphalia Wilhelm’s University of Munster (head: Prof. Dr. H. Wagner).
Prof. Dr. med. WHM Castro teaches students at the Westphalia Wilhelm’s University in Munster, Department of Medicine.
Some of the medical staff of the OFI Orthopedic Research Institutes are active in patient care outside of their function in the OFI.
