Wyatt Mould studied to become a journeyman lineman at Northwest Lineman College (NLC) in Meridian, Idaho. Founded in 1993, NLC is a private vocational school providing technical education for power delivery industry careers. After completing his studies, he enrolled in the IBEW Mountain States Line Constructors Joint Apprenticeship and Training (MSLCAT) Program, which combines classroom learning with practical field experience. This program taught him hands-on training in live-line work, system troubleshooting, and high-voltage maintenance while expanding his understanding of electrical theory and safety standards.

For three years, he worked on power lines throughout Montana, Colorado, Utah, and Texas, traveling wherever his crew needed to restore or expand electrical service. His time in the field exposed him to various environments, helping him develop the adaptability, teamwork, and technical problem-solving skills essential to his profession.

At NLC, he completed a 15-week pre-apprentice program that included classroom instruction and hands-on labs. He studied electrical systems, power delivery, circuits, voltage, and current while practicing essential skills like pole climbing, conductor handling, splicing, and safe equipment operation. Safety was a key part of his training, covering high-voltage awareness, fall protection, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment.

As a lineman, he built, maintained, and repaired power transmission and distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines, poles, transformers, and switches. His responsibilities required precision, focus, and the ability to work safely in challenging conditions such as storms or at great heights.

He has been an excavator with Borden Excavating in St. Calimesa, California, for over three years. His work involves installing new water mains and servicing customer meter boxes. During this time, he also completed a two-year construction laborer apprenticeship through AGC in Riverside, California, where he gained experience in trenching, grading, pipe installation, and heavy equipment operation.

He volunteers at Carol’s Kitchen in Riverside, California, where he has served meals to people experiencing homelessness for over 100 hours. Guided by his Christian faith and strong family values, he enjoys golf, motorcycle rides, camping, pool, skateboarding, and staying active—reflecting the character, discipline, and work ethic of Wyatt Mould.
