Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, NY, and raised in Houston in a family environment that placed consistent emphasis on education, curiosity, and exploration. Early exposure to structured learning and open inquiry helped shape a thoughtful mindset that carried into later academic and professional pursuits. These foundations encouraged steady growth and an interest in understanding how complex systems operate in practice.

After high school, Anthony earned admission to the Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, one of the most competitive undergraduate business programs in the nation. He majored in Finance and completed a minor in Spanish, graduating in 2018 with a major GPA of 3.5/4.0. The honors curriculum focused on analytical rigor, intensive case work, and collaborative problem solving.

During his studies, he also spent a semester in 2015 at the Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires. There, he studied program management while developing Spanish language skills through immersion. The experience strengthened cultural awareness and supported a broader perspective on global institutions, communication, and applied learning in unfamiliar environments.

Anthony Qi began his professional career in investing and financial analysis, where careful research and disciplined judgment were central to daily work. Early internships at Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai provided exposure to multiple industries and international business settings, reinforcing the value of adaptability and context.

Anthony developed a methodical, data-driven approach to evaluating opportunities while learning how incentives, execution, and structure influence outcomes. These roles helped reinforce the importance of grounding decisions in evidence and of understanding how theory translates into real-world results across different organizations.

He later joined Highside Global Management, a $250 million fundamental long/short equity hedge fund, where he spent almost 4 years sourcing investment ideas and managing sector coverage across advertising, transportation, and logistics. His responsibilities included identifying market mispricing, improving earnings forecasts, and supporting portfolio decisions through structured analysis and statistical modeling.

Anthony Qi later expanded into software development and product design, applying analytical and financial skills in a technical environment. As the first employee at a startup building research tools for hedge funds and investigative journalists, he helped develop products from early concept through launch while also contributing to client development and partnerships. Outside of work, he remains engaged in investing, prediction markets, and systems-oriented thinking, while also pursuing tennis, weight training, rock climbing, and games that emphasize progression and social interaction.
