Dr Chong-Yee Khoo is a biotech patent attorney with 20 years experience in private practice and industry.

He has extensive experience in drafting, prosecuting and defending patents worldwide in a broad range of biotech, pharma, life sciences and related subject matter. His clients include universities, research institutes, startups, SMEs and large industrial clients in Asia, Europe and the US.

Chong-Yee is a Chartered (UK) Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, European Trade Mark and Design Attorney and Registered Singapore Patent Agent. He is the first Singaporean patent attorney ever to be qualified by examination.

Before founding Cantab LLP in 2008, he was a partner in the biotechnology and life sciences group at one of the leading patent and trade mark firms in the United Kingdom. He has also worked in-house in the IP department of a large Danish diagnostics company.

Chong-Yee has postgraduate research experience with a Ph.D. from Cambridge University, where he also obtained a double first class honours degree in Natural Sciences. He is an author on two Nature papers and one in Current Biology.

He has taught biotech and chemical drafting at Queen Mary, University of London, Bournemouth University and the Graduate Certificate in IP Law course, National University of Singapore, and was also a lecturer on several commercial patent law courses in London, Singapore and Malaysia.
