Workflow and decision Automation with Flowable

Workflow and decision Automation with Flowable

This presentation covers workflow and decision automation using open standards and modern platforms. It explores BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation), CMMN (Case Management Model and Notation), and DMN (Decision Model and Notation), published by the OMG community, which provide standardized methods for modeling, designing, and managing business processes and decisions.

The project focuses on the Flowable Engine, a fast, modern, open-source process and case management engine fully supporting BPMN 2, CMMN, and DMN standards. Objectives include: comparative study of open-source automation solutions, integration and extension of Flowable in a Java/JEE back-end, development of back-office applications for bank agents, Angular front-office applications for customer service requests, and modeling of business processes, decision tables, and modules including APIs, business logic, and rules.

The study also includes learning workflow and decision automation through real-world business use cases, like onboarding services, and extending the platform with monitoring and reporting modules. Technical environment: Java 8, JEE 7, JSF, PrimeFaces, BPMN, DMN, SQL, XML, REST, Spring 5.2, SpringBoot 2.4, Angular 9, Maven, Docker.

CMMN | DMN | Triple crown | Open source implementations 19 Business Process Model and Notation is a standard for business processes diagrams. It provides a standard, easy-to-use flowchart-like notation that is comprehensible to business users yet represents complex process semantics for technical users.
