User Journeys for IoT Device

There are three main use cases as IoT users based on user research in previous stage. This age group of people is much younger and care about life convenient and productive. I built a series of user flows from their user journeys.

    JOURNEY 1.1 Case When I launched X10 app, I could easily read accessories stat at a glimpse and manipulate them as well “I AM SEEKING HOME AUTOMATION” SEAN JOURNEY 1.2 Case When I got home, all devices were supposed to work properly and automatically BROOK “I AM SEEKING GREAT ABILITY TO MANAGE HOME SETTINGS” JOURNEY 1.3 Case When I started to watch a movie at home, I could let all devices do what I want them to do for better settings, with just one tap MAIN USE CASE FOR IoT

    X10 for a while G10 ROUTER PLUG MANUAL web INSTALL APP REGISTER & LOGIN ROUTER FOUND ADD ACCESSORY IN DISCOVER MODE FOUND CUSTOMIZE DONE DEVICES REQUIRED LEARN TO HOW ACCESSING SERVICE SMART IoT DEVICES SETUP SET UP ROUTER I bought a smart plug which is supported by X10 He took a look at X10 manual for advanced settings Alex google ‘X10 IoT’ to find out more details about setup Alex download the X10 app and install it He finished registration process and log into the X10 app The system immediately found a device and ask for pairing ADD ROUTER FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS No device found, so Alex tapped Add button He followed the instructions to set up his router ROUTER ADDED The router was added successfully There is an option to add IoT device The system tells Alex his device must be ready for pair Alex added device which was found by X10 app The device can be allowed to customized by name, type, room No FOUND Please make sure your device is ready for pair I can be able to set up smart device in just a few minutes JOURNEY FOR IoT SETUP

    is an option to take a look at my accessories stat and take control of them ACCESSORIES’ LIST Alex could view each device stat which were listed in a room order. Each of them has related controls ON/OFF CONTROL Alex expanded accessories stat for further control. There is an option (the power light for example) to turn it on or off SLIDER Alex expanded accessories stat for further control. There is an option (the bulb for example) to make the light luminance adjustment. DONE JOURNEY 1.1

    choose the time as a trigger LOCATION There is an option to choose my location as a trigger SELECT ACCESSORIES Alex chose which device should be enabled which shouldn’t. (The devices are ordered by room, there is also an option to select all for room devices) Done Tapping Done to finish Rule setup ADD RULE There is an option to add a rule for automation DEVICE IS CONTROLLED There is an option to choose device state (on/off) as a trigger WHEN MY LOCATION IS… The options for my location detected or not detected SELECT SCENES There is an option to choose scenes which were set up previously TIME SETTINGS Alex chose a day week and time WHEN THIS DEVICE IS ON/OFF… The door as example, when my door is open SELECT A ACCESSORY Alex chose a device shown in a list (ordered by room & single option) JOURNEY 1.2

    User can be able to customize a new scene SCENES There are a few following options for user to choose for suggestion: Home, Away, Bed Time, Wakeup, Movie Time NAME SCENE User typed “Nap Afternoon” and continue it SELECT ACCESSORIES Alex chose devices shown in a list (ordered by room) and set up what he wanted them to do Done After tapping Done, the system saved the settings/ add new scene JOURNEY 1.3
