Daniel Walter Hill's life journey began in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he was born and raised. His story is one of resilience, dedication, and a strong sense of Divine Providence guiding his steps. After a profound car accident shifted his perspective on life, he eventually made his home in St. Augustine, Florida, following a transformative period spent in the United Kingdom.

He is an accomplished entrepreneur with extensive experience across a wide array of industries, including real estate, homebuilding, golf course development, oil and gas, cable television, plastic manufacturing, utility companies, and waste management. Throughout his career, he has been a key figure in advising, building, and managing various companies within these fields. His skills in problem-solving, raising capital, and strategic planning have been critical to the growth and success of the businesses he has been associated with.

One of his significant achievements was his role as a founding advisor and shareholder of Allied Waste Industries, a major company in the waste management industry. Under his leadership, Allied Waste acquired Republic Services, adopting its name and solidifying its position in the market. His professional journey began in real estate development, where he played a pivotal role in the acquisition, design, planning, and financial execution of several large-scale, master-planned mixed-use developments in Texas, California, and Arizona, each covering 1,000 acres.

His academic background is as diverse as his professional experiences. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Georgetown University. He went on to obtain a law degree (L.L.B.) from the University of Saskatchewan, after which he was called to the bar in British Columbia. His pursuit of education continued with the completion of the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard University’s School of Business Administration. To further his expertise in finance, he also attended Oxford Templeton College in the U.K., where he studied Executive Finance.

Philanthropy has played a central role in his life, significantly influenced by his interactions with Mother Teresa during the last five years of her life. These experiences inspired him to devote himself to helping those in need. He founded Gratia International, a charity focused on restoring dignity to individuals, regardless of their circumstances. Through this organization, he secured funding for the establishment of Tansian University and related schools in Nigeria. His network of benefactors includes prominent entities such as FedEx, various U.K. companies, the Templeton Foundation, and private individuals from Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
