G. Darrell Hulsey has devoted more than 35 years to his career as an entrepreneur and executive in healthcare management. Since 2016, he has been serving as the CEO of Professional Billing, Inc. (PBI), a company that provides revenue cycle and practice management services to physician practices across more than 15 states. He directs a network of over 200 practices, focusing on growth, operational improvements, and efficiency. Alongside his career, he has been committed to philanthropy for more than three decades, supporting charitable causes through both financial contributions and volunteer efforts.

His professional journey began in 1991 when Darrell Hulsey joined CompMed/Medaphis Physician Services, now McKesson, as a Senior Operations Manager. Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, he managed hospital-based physician practices across four states. His work included negotiating managed care contracts, overseeing reimbursement processes, and marketing new business opportunities across several regions.

After three years, Darrell co-founded Medical Management Professionals (MMP) with six partners. Over time, he held various leadership roles, guiding the company’s growth. In 1998, MMP was sold to CBIZ, where he rose to Vice President and later President and CEO. In 2013, the company returned to private ownership, and in 2016, he transitioned to his current role at PBI. During his time with MMP, the company handled over 34 million procedures, processed $5 billion in client charges, and collected more than $2 billion in revenues. According to SEC filings, the company generated $165 million in top-line revenue and $21 million in earnings.

At MMP, he was engaged in all areas of operations, compliance, finance, IT, HR, sales, and mergers. From 2007 to 2013, while serving as President and CEO, he expanded revenue from $90 million to $165 million. He oversaw the consolidation of 12 billing systems into four, reduced operating costs by more than 45%, and lowered staff count by approximately 35%. Earlier, as Executive Vice President of Operations for the East Region, he grew revenues by 83% and profits by 98%, while expanding operations from two states to 10.

At PBI, he has guided the company to 250% revenue growth between 2016 and 2025. Hulsey completed five acquisitions and oversaw their integration, creating 30% cost savings within 18 months of each. He also introduced advanced analytics and AI-driven billing systems, which improved collections by 15% year over year, reduced claim denials by 25%, and cut administrative costs by 40%. His leadership also ensured compliance with HIPAA and CMS regulations across all operations.

For more than 35 years, he has supported religious charities, contributed to St. Jude’s Hospital, and donated to the Epilepsy Foundation of America. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Health Management and a concentration in Accounting and has supported his alma mater for more than three decades.

Born in Haleyville, Alabama, he enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, and traveling during his personal time. Today, Darrell Hulsey continues to lead PBI with dedication to his profession while maintaining a strong commitment to service and philanthropy.
