Darryl Downey established the Westport Festival of Music & Food to appeal to a family-friendly audience. The festival was the first of its kind to enhance the customer experience of music and food and took place over 2-days at Westport House and featured an eclectic mix of music, food, comedy and kid’s entertainment. During the course of its 3 years, artists that performed included Bryan Adams, Elvis Costello, David Gray, Sinead O’Connor, Ray Davies, Jools Holland, Kool & The Gang, Christy Moore, The Divine Comedy, Seasick Steve, Imelda May, The Chieftains, Macy Gray, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Martha Wainwright, 2Cellos. Over 70 artists performed each year across 6 stages and there were approx. The food element included local artisan producers in tandem with celebrity and Michelin star chefs conducting food demonstrations. Revenue included ticket sales, sponsorship, government funding, pouring rights, merchandise, food and beverage.
