and Fortis Bank Technical integration of two organisations signalled the start of several large Prince 2 programmes. Circumstances required us to excel at project management which enabled us to handle the complexities of the integration. Customer Excellence (CE) within IT Solutions The start of CE and subsequently value chain management ensured a focus on both improvements in our daily work and a customer first mentality. This changed mind-set was the starting point for people to take responsibility for the continuous improvement of our way of working. Start of Agile transition Building on our experiences with CE and value chain management, a few self-exploring teams started working agile. This resulted in the introduction of a standard agile working mode (scrum) in 2015. Throughout 2016 up to 100 teams were trained. While positive experiences were there, the full potential was limited by a legacy of the organisational model (e.g. governance, tooling). 2010 2013 2015 2012 2014 2017 TOPS2020 programme Started in 2012 (thinking phase) and execution is still ongoing. The goal of the programme was to optimise our IT landscape and drive technological improvements to help us prepare for the future. Excess legacy and a changing market required us to be more flexible. TOPS2020 was a key element in the bank’s long term strategy. New governance structure for TOPS TOPS (predecessor of I&T) went through a major reorganisation. A number of centrally strategic roles such as Architecture and Data Management were combined to form CADM. CISO became an MG position due to the importance of centrally controlled information security. Run and Change responsibilities were separated on a domain level, providing all domains the same structure. New IT Solutions organisation On August 1st, 2017 the new IT Solutions organisation was launched, bringing together business and IT. The renewed governance helped resolve a lot of the impediments that were still felt on a team level. However, we need to keep improving our organisational model and the way it is implemented.
