17. 面對的問題 • 虛擬機器當道，mac定址可達數十萬個 • 單一交換器可容納的mac定址數量不足 • 目前VLAN數量限制在4094，亦明顯不足 • 資料中心的數千數萬台交換機經由spanning tree 的方式會浪費為數可觀的物理接線 • 資料中心的眾多租戶面臨VM具備相同MAC定址 及VLAN ID的潛在可能性 • Multipath scalability through Equal Cost Multipath (ECMP)
18. VXLAN • 企業網路實行虛擬化後會有根據上述需求 會有很多overlay的網路 • 因此需要封裝VM的封包，以tunnel的方式 解決面對的問題 • Virtual eXtensible Local Area Network

VXLAN header • With VXLAN, when a virtual machine sends a frame, it is encapsulated in a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packet along with a 24-bit segment identifier that uniquely identifies the bridge domain and provides a dedicated logical network (Figure 10). VXLAN enables an architectural maximum of over 16 M logical networks, supporting large cloud deployments.
