  1. When purchasing the Japan Rail Pass there are multiple options

    you can select from. Choose between 7, 14 or 21 days duration. You can also select Economy or Green (premium) class. Adult & Child passes are available. 1.  Buy  your  Japan  Rail  Pass   ©JNTO  
  2. After purchasing your Japan Rail Pass you will receive your

    Exchange Order via Registered or Express Mail. Treat this as your actual pass because you will need this to transform into your Japan Rail Pass. 2.  Receive  Your  Exchange  Order   ©JNTO  
  3. Your bags are packed and you are finally set to

    embark on your trip to Japan. Make sure that you have your exchange order with you. 3.  Go  to  Japan   ©JNTO  
  4. On arrival into Japan you will automatically get a temporary

    visitor stamp in your passport if you are an Australian passport holder. If you are working or studying you will not get this. For all other country passport holders please check your VISA requirements. 4.  Get  your  ‘Temporary  Visitor’  stamp   ©JNTO  
  5. You will now need to locate the nearest JR Exchange

    office. You will transform your exchange order in to your Japan Rail Pass here but make sure you have your passport, temporary visitor stamp and exchange order with you. You will be asked to set an activate date which can be up to 30 days from the date of transformation. So you don’t have to start using it straight away. 5.  Transform  your  Exchange  Order  into  a  Japan  Rail  Pass   ©JNTO  
  6. You can now start using your Japan Rail Pass to

    discover Japan. Once you start using your pass it will expire in 7/14/21 concurrent days. 6.  Discover  Japan  using  your  Japan  Rail  Pass   ©JNTO
