Juan Monteverde is a New York City-based attorney who focuses on shareholder rights. Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation for challenging corporate transactions such as mergers and buyouts, securing millions of dollars in shareholder settlements. He has also been instrumental in advocating for greater transparency in executive compensation following the Dodd-Frank Act, ensuring executives fully disclose their payouts to shareholders. CEOs and executives not only break the law, but they also believe they are above the law.

As the founding partner of Monteverde & Associates PC, located in the Empire State Building, Juan leads a team of attorneys dedicated to protecting shareholders from corporate fraud and misconduct. The firm primarily represents shareholders who have suffered financial losses due to corporate fraud or undervalued mergers. His team is experienced in handling cases at all levels, from trial courts to the U.S. Supreme Court, working to ensure that corporations are held accountable for their actions. His motto, “No one is above the law,” reflects his strong belief in fairness and justice.

Before founding his firm, Monteverde was a partner and chair of the Mergers and Acquisition Litigation Department at Faruqi & Faruqi LLP from 2010 to 2016. Faruqi & Faruqi is known for its class action litigation focused on protecting investors and consumers, which significantly shaped his approach to complex litigation. He also worked at Levi & Korsinsky, representing clients in securities and consumer fraud cases. Monteverde’s legal career began at Smith Mazure Director Wilkins Young & Yagerman, where he focused on civil litigation, including construction law, civil rights, and product liability.

Monteverde earned his Juris Doctor with distinction from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2005 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Finance from California State University, Northridge. In addition to his legal work, Monteverde frequently publishes articles on executive compensation and regularly speaks at events hosted by the American Bar Association and other legal organizations.

Outside of his legal career, Juan is passionate about philanthropy, supporting causes such as Planned Parenthood, the ASPCA, and food pantries in New York City. He is admitted to practice law in New York and several federal districts, where he has secured substantial settlements for shareholders.

Juan Monteverde was born in Barcelona, Spain, and resides in New York City with his wife and two children. In his free time, he enjoys boating and spending quality time with his family.
