Michael Quantrell is a veteran yacht Captain with more than twenty years of experience across yacht engineering, estate management, and competitive racing. His background includes overseeing multimillion-dollar refits, managing high-value private vessels, and completing complex deliveries along the East Coast. Known for composure and accountability, Michael has operated safely through demanding conditions, including navigating vessels during Category 4 Hurricane Irma in Florida in 2017. His leadership style emphasizes preparation, safety, and long-term asset care.
Raised in Camden, Maine, Michael’s early life revolved around the water and the mountains. He split his time between sailing and ski racing, developing discipline and competitive focus at a young age. His efforts earned three Junior Olympic medals, including silver and bronze in the Laser Class youth sailing division. As his skills advanced, he competed in organized racing programs throughout New Zealand, New England, and England, gaining international exposure and experience.
During high school, Michael excelled in alpine skiing and remained active in competitive circuits for years afterward. He participated in Friday night lights skiing in Maine for over a decade, consistently ranking at the top of local events. While living in Florida, he captured all three qualifiers and two finals in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge, a regional ski and snowboard race series hosted across Northeastern resorts. He also secured victories in numerous smaller competitions.
Michael began his professional maritime career at age eighteen and has since captained vessels ranging from 20 to 112 feet. His work includes deliveries and extended cruising throughout Florida, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and the Eastern Seaboard. He has led multiple large-scale refits, transforming aging yachts into refined, reliable vessels through hands-on project management, mechanical oversight, and close coordination with shipyards and owners.
As owner of Ox Eye Marine Corporation, Michael Quantrell manages a fleet operating along the eastern seaboard and throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean. His services include crew placement, refit management, deliveries, international shipping, and compliance. He has captained notable yachts, including Crown Jewel and Remedy, and has managed financial accounts and major refit programs. Outside of his professional life, Michael enjoys the outdoors, values family time, and shares his days with his dogs.
