Good decisions need data, but real data is often missing, private, expensive or slow to collect. Synthetic data fills that gap. It is data generated by simulations, statistical models or AI that behaves like the real thing. With it, we can try out choices safely before committing real time, money or people.
In our study-room project, we set 25 parameters (arrival rates, study time, seats, student behaviour and sensors) and simulated a full day. The results showed the room overloads at peak hours. Comparing scenarios showed that more seats helps far more than any other option.
The main lesson: synthetic data does not replace reality, but it gives a safe place to rehearse decisions and lets us act with evidence instead of guesses.
