Dr. Nishi Patel, M.D., is a dedicated cardiovascular medicine specialist committed to advancing heart care both in his community and nationally. Practicing at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Patel specializes in diagnosing and treating advanced heart conditions, including heart failure, and caring for patients in cardiac critical care settings. His clinical skills are matched by his leadership as National Director of Cardiac Imaging at Access Physicians/SOC Telemedicine, where he works to expand high-level cardiac imaging—such as echocardiography and cardiac CT—across rural and underserved areas.

Dr. Patel’s academic path began at Drexel University, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2009 and earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2013. He then completed his internship and residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Driven by a deep passion for cardiology, Dr. Patel completed dual fellowships at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, specializing in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology, Echocardiography, Cardiac CT, and Nuclear Cardiology.

At WellSpan York Hospital, Dr. Patel provides state-of-the-art care for patients with complex heart failure, implementing advanced therapies such as ECMO, Impella, and LVAD, and facilitating access to heart transplantation. His leadership has contributed to the development of a comprehensive heart failure program, which includes a clinic dedicated to survivors of cardiogenic shock. Dr. Patel also champions remote patient monitoring using CardioMEMS technology and has pioneered protocols for virtual and molecular autopsies to better inform families about inherited cardiac risks.

Dr. Patel’s impact reaches far beyond the hospital setting. As a key figure in telemedicine, he has helped build and direct programs that offer expert cardiac imaging and consultation services to hospitals nationwide, enabling more patients to receive specialized care without having to leave their communities.
