His journey in this field saw him serving in various capacities at prestigious hotels such as the InterContinental in both D.C. and Chicago, Omni Hotels in Dallas, Bel Air Hotel in The Hague, and The Langham Hotel in Chicago. This extensive background laid the groundwork for his adeptness in managing complex operations in the hospitality industry, further augmenting his skill set for broader business management roles.

Originally from Doetinchem, The Netherlands, Meijer moved to the United States in 1999 to complete his bachelor's degree in hospitality at NHL Stenden Hotel Management School. He also completed a formative full-year internship at the Ritz-Carlton Company, where he received multiple accolades. Fluent in English, Dutch, and German, his international experience, having lived in numerous cities across Europe and the United States, enriches his professional and personal life.

Family plays a central role in  Ramses's life. He lives in Charlotte with his wife, April, their daughter, Maxime, and two dogs, Riley and Remy. He actively participates in his daughter's academic and sports endeavors, coaching her YMCA volleyball and soccer teams. The Meijer family enjoys a wide range of activities, from traveling and exploring new adventures to appreciating the natural beauty of the Carolina Mountains and embarking on annual ski trips to Utah and Colorado.

An avid sports enthusiast, Meijer grew up playing soccer in the Netherlands and continued until his early thirties. His passion for sports evolved into marathon running and participating in triathlons, achieving commendable milestones such as completing the Chicago and Las Vegas marathons and the Louisville Ironman. Recently, he has taken up tennis and pickleball, actively participating in local leagues.
