  2. St Lucia 1. Every Friday night in Gros Islet town

situated in the north of the island the local’s host a Friday night ‘Jump up’ party. This night is fuelled with music, dancing and scrumptious barbecued food. 2. Towards the North east of the island you will find a quaint fishing village Anse La Raye. Each and every Friday night they host ‘Splash Down’. Local fisherman during the day hunt for fish, even going as far as the neighbouring islands to bring back the most delightful assortment. During Splash Down this locally caught fish is cooked in a variety of ways before being served to the adoring public. 3. Visit The Diamond Botanical Gardens is a serene place situated in Soufriere. Imagine tropical flowers on one side and a water fall on the other. Breath-taking beauty, tropical breeze…. 4. Zip lining in the Caribbean over the last few years has become increasing popular and St Lucia lays claim to some of the best zip lines in the Caribbean. Treetop Adventure Park claims to have ‘the longest, highest and fastest zip line in St Lucia’ and Rainforest Adventures say the Adrina-Line is ‘one of the best zip lines in the Caribbean’. Whichever you choose, you will feel like Tarzan weaving through the tropical forest…only faster and higher- hold tight! 5. The western coast of St Lucia is synonymous with the twin Piton peaks rising nearly 3,000 feet above the Caribbean Sea. St Lucia’s dramatic landscape is made up of two volcanic spires known as Gros Piton and Petit Piton. The Piton management area is a UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its lush, green landscapes and diverse animal and plant life. It is quite a strenuous hike but well worth the effort Gros Piton or take a catamaran and view the peaks from the water for breath taking views. 6. Go on a whale and dolphin watching safari. Obviously you are never guaranteed a view but the chances are pretty high and with tours heading out from Soufriere, sailing under the magnificence of the Pitons and perhaps including a stop off for a scrumptious buffet lunch at Marigot Bay what have you got to lose? 7. The Caribbean islands have a plethora of events during the course of the year. One of my favourites is the St Lucia Jazz Festival. This event is normally held in early May and lasts
  3. for one week. Several of the leading hotels create an

all-inclusive package of jazz entertainment, dinner and accommodation. The St Lucia Jazz Festival culminates on Pigeon Island with an array of international jazz and soul stars. 8. Although not the biggest, the St Lucia Carnival in July is as colourful and spectacular as those in other Caribbean islands. So, if the carnival vibe is for you book over for the July dates and enjoy the celebrations! 9. Fancy yourself as a rum connoisseur? Then head for the Food and Rum Festival at the end of October/ November. Dates for the year can be checked with the St Lucia Tourist Board who organise the event. Join rum connoisseurs, food critiques and some of the best chefs in showcasing Caribbean cuisine and drink. 10. To fully appreciate St Lucia’s beauty I would strongly recommend viewing the mountainous island by air. St Lucia Helicopter Tours offer a bird’s eye view of the island in all its glory. Guyana Although geographically part of South America, Guyana is culturally and economically linked with the Caribbean islands. So, you get the best of both worlds. Bordering Venezuela, Brazil and Suriname you get the awesome landscape and influence of the indigenous peoples of the Amazonian rainforest mixed with infamous Caribbean heritage. 11. Approximately three times taller than Niagara, twice as high as Victoria Falls and set deep in the Amazon rainforest is the awe inspiring Kaieteur Falls, one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. Translated into English, Old Man’s Falls, may also be one of the least accessible with the only journey via plane. In good weather the journey takes about an hour and prior to landing you will circle Kaieteur for some great photo opportunities. As you can imagine the Kaieteur National Park is a sanctuary of unique and magnificent flora, fauna including wildlife indigenous to only this area. Kaieteur is definitely a must see phenomenon. 12. Adel’s Eco Resort is set on 60 acres is surrounded by unspoilt rainforest, buffered from modern Georgetown by the Akawini creek. With nature walks led by native Amerindians, canoeing on the Pomeroon River or just the peace and tranquillity of nature at it’s very best, Adel’s invite contemplation, reflection and relaxation.
  4. 13. Guyana’s Rock View Lodge combines both comfort and the

natural beauty of the rainforest, mountains and savannahs. Located where the foothills of the Pakaraima mountain range meet the tropical rainforest, Rock View Lodge is nestled between the native Amerindian villages of Rupertee and Annai on the North Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana. Rock View offers horseback riding, hiking up the Pakaraimas and much more. 14. Take a tour around the Demerara Distillers Plantation find out the history of Guyana’s oldest rum, El Dorado. Cayman Islands 15. Ever thought what it would be like to swim with Stingrays? Relax or play at Seven Mile Beach, Rum Point, Smith's Cove or Cayman Kai.
  5. 20. Whether you are an experienced horseback rider or not

it’s worth seeing the Grand Cayman whilst riding on Caymans unspoilt beaches. You could either enjoy the sunset rides or even experience a full day riding in the sun. 21. Hog Sty Bay, located on the Waterfront of George Town is where you will find Cayman Craft Market. Vendors and talented local artists display an array of local crafts such as wood carvings, thatch, leather, shell, painting and one off inventions as well as traditional Caymanian food. 22.
