A nonprofit organization serving Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Michigan, Real Alternatives empowers women to take charge of their reproductive health during and after their pregnancies. A three-time recipient of the Seal of Excellence from the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Real Alternatives helps women to look beyond abortion to identify solutions to unplanned pregnancy, ranging from adoption and social support to raising their child themselves. In addition, the organization guides women in how to tell their parents about their pregnancies and provides access to free classes on parenting.

In all three states, Real Alternatives connects clients to a variety of local maternity homes and social service agencies. To help these women, the organization partners with adoption agencies and pregnancy support centers. Real Alternatives ensures that women have access to confidential counseling about the available options, as well as temporary shelter should they need it. Many of the organization's initiatives focus on supporting women through education assistance and employment decisions should they choose to raise their child themselves.

Currently, Real Alternatives’ network includes 90 centers in Pennsylvania, as well as 21 in Michigan, and 25 in Indiana. All of these centers employ counselors trained in compassionate care so that women never feel judged. All service providers undergo annual monitoring to ensure that they adhere to the standards outlined by the department of human services in the state in question.
