Reed Cagle is a seasoned consultant in the energy and oil sectors, leveraging his vast experience to advise clients. His expertise lies in streamlining operations, with a particular focus on horizontal drilling techniques.
Born in 1962 and raised in Clarksville, Texas, he has always maintained a deep connection to his home state despite his travels. He has been married to his wife, Donna, for over 30 years, and together they raised their son, who is now an adult. In 1999, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, but in 2017, they returned to Plano, Texas, where they currently reside.
His professional journey began in 1986 when he took on his first role as an associate with Kinlaw Oil Corporation. Captivated by the industry, he dedicated himself to learning every aspect of the company and the broader field. His hard work paid off as he steadily climbed the ranks, eventually securing positions of significant responsibility. After ten years with Kinlaw, he decided to embark on his path.
In 1996, he left Kinlaw to start his own business in Dallas, Texas. By 1997, he had founded Heartland Energy Inc., which later became known as HEI. Serving as the president and CEO, he collaborated with joint venture partners and engaged with various energy industry professionals, including operators, drilling contractors, engineers, geophysicists, and service companies. The company focused on sponsoring and exploring gas, oil, and mineral sites.
In 2006, he expanded into the drilling services sector by partnering with Midcontinent Drilling. He financed the venture and oversaw the construction of a 2000-horsepower drilling rig capable of reaching depths of up to 20,000 feet.
In 2011, he ventured into the mining industry, working both in the U.S. and South America. He began by acquiring a mining concession in Oregon, which produced over 89,000 ounces of gold. His involvement in Chile included funding and managing the day-to-day operations of a gold and copper processing facility in Copiapo. One of his notable achievements in mining was developing a proprietary process to remove and neutralize toxic substances from liquids while recovering precious metals. This technology, currently used in Copiapo, holds potential for global applications in the mining industry. Charles sees this innovation as a significant advancement that could benefit mining operations worldwide.
