  1. They came to the other side of the sea, to

the country of the Gerasenes Mark 5:1 (ESV)
  2. And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately

there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and Mark 5:2-10 (ESV)
  3. cutting himself with stones. And when he saw Jesus from

afar, he ran and fell down before him. And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. Mark 5:2-10 (ESV)
  4. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are

like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. Matthew 23:27 (ESV)
  5. "Anyone out in the open who touches someone who has

been killed with a sword or someone who has died a natural death, or anyone who touches a human bone or a grave, will be unclean for seven days. Numbers 19:16 (ESV)
  6. Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on

the hillside, and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea. Mark 5:11-13 (ESV)
  7. And he went away and began to proclaim in the

Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marvelled. Mark 5:20 (ESV)
  8. And there was a woman who had had a discharge

of blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse. She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, Mark 5:25-30 (ESV)
  9. immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched

my garments?” And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’” And he looked around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease. Mark 5:25-34 (ESV)
  10. And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they

laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well. Mark 6:36 (ESV)
  11. “If a woman has a discharge of blood for many

days, not at the time of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond the time of her impurity, all the days of the discharge she shall continue in uncleanness. As in the days of her impurity, she shall be unclean. Leviticus 15:25 (ESV)
  12. As you read over what I have written to you,

you’ll be able to see for yourselves into the mystery of Christ. None of our ancestors understood this. Only in our time has it been made clear by God’s Spirit through his holy apostles and prophets of this new order. The mystery is that people who have never heard of God and those who have heard of him all their lives (what I’ve been calling outsiders and insiders) stand on the same ground before God. They get the same offer, same help, same promises in Christ Jesus. The Message is accessible and welcoming to everyone, across the board. Ephesians 3:4-6 (MSG)
