  2. What is caregiver burnout? Burnout is a state of emotional

exhaustion that results from wearing out due to too many demands on one’s energy, strength or capabilities. Caregiver Burnout is when you become physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted from the stress that comes from caring for a loved one or many loved ones that need constant support. Caregiver burnout can look like signs of depression, lack of energy, withdrawal from people or activities that brought you joy, constant negative emotions and becoming increasingly irritable with the people you are caring for and/or others. You may even neglect your own needs and feel like caregiving is taking over everything. Caregiving can be gratifying, but it can also be frustrating and exhausting. If this sounds familiar, it may be time to do something for you.
