菅野 哲 / Satoru Kanno

菅野 哲は、2000年に NTT と三菱電機が共同開発した共通鍵暗号「Camellia」を TLS や IPsec などインターネットのプロトコルで使用するために、IETF で RFC 4本を著者として執筆した。現在は GMOコネクト株式会社の執行役員CTOを務める。

専門は応用暗号とプロトコル設計。学生時代から暗号プロトコルの研究開発に取り組み、IETF の TLS と IPSECME ワーキンググループ、IRTF の CFRG を中心に、10年以上標準化活動に携わってきた。現在は耐量子計算機暗号（PQC）、ペアリングに適した楕円曲線、低遅延暗号 Areion、SD-WAN に取り組んでいる。PQC 移行と暗号標準化をテーマに、CRYPTREC シンポジウムと IoTセキュリティフォーラムでの招待講演のほか、日本銀行金融研究所セミナー、Internet Week、DNS Summer Day、Interop Tokyo で講演してきた。

電気通信大学大学院 博士前期課程修了。暗号、インターネット標準化、デジタル市場の政策にまたがって活動している。CTO と並行して公正取引委員会チーフテクノロジスト（非常勤）と GMOインターネットグループ AI研究開発室の主席研究員（兼務）を務め、2018年からは北陸先端科学技術大学院大学（JAIST）の非常勤講師として標準化と暗号通信プロトコルを教えている。これまでに NTTソフトウェア（現 NTTテクノクロス）、情報処理推進機構（IPA）、レピダム、GMOサイバーセキュリティ byイエラエで、エンジニア、研究者、経営者として活動してきた。

Satoru Kanno co-authored four IETF RFCs on Camellia, a symmetric-key block cipher jointly developed by NTT and Mitsubishi Electric in 2000, covering its modes of operation and its use in TLS and IPsec. Satoru is now Executive Officer & CTO at GMO Connect.

Satoru is an applied cryptographer and protocol engineer who has worked on cryptographic protocols since university and has contributed to standardization for more than ten years, centered on the IETF TLS and IPSECME working groups and the IRTF Crypto Forum Research Group (CFRG). Current work covers post-quantum cryptography (PQC), pairing-friendly curves, the low-latency cipher Areion and SD-WAN. Satoru speaks regularly on PQC migration and cryptographic standardization, including invited talks at the CRYPTREC Symposium and the IoT Security Forum, and sessions at the Bank of Japan IMES Seminar, Internet Week, DNS Summer Day and Interop Tokyo.

Holding an M.S. from the University of Electro-Communications, Satoru works across cryptography, Internet standardization and public policy for digital markets. Alongside the CTO role, Satoru serves as Chief Technologist (part-time) at the Japan Fair Trade Commission and Principal Researcher at GMO Internet Group's AI R&D Division, and has taught standardization and cryptographic protocols at JAIST as an adjunct lecturer since 2018. Earlier, Satoru worked as an engineer, researcher and executive at NTT Software (now NTT TechnoCross), IPA, lepidum and GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae.
