5. New vSphere HA Architecture • AAM (Automated Availability Manager) is out • FDM (Fault Domain Manager) is in • No more primary/secondary nodes • Many design considerations are changed
6. VAAI v2 and VASA • VAAI v2: • VAAI support for NFS • Expanded thin provisioned support/awareness • All VAAI primitives now T10 compliant • VASA • Requires vendor plugin (VASA provider) • Passes storage capabilities up to vCenter Server
7. Storage DRS • Bring load balancing to storage domain • Can balance on capacity as well as performance (leverages same mechanism as SIOC) • Uses the idea of a datastore cluster • Introduces some new design considerations
