Website traffic analytics report

These are the web analytics statics you can expect after generating a report:

Total monthly Visitors (all sources):
Organic search traffic (SEO) – All visitors who find a website after using a search Engine like Google or Bing.
Paid traffic – All visitors who go to a website after clicking on any form of paid promotion.
Referral traffic – All visitors who come to a website after clicking a link on another website (with the exception of search engines and paid promotions) are labelled as referral traffic.
Direct traffic – All visitors who can’t be assigned to one of the previous sources are automatically assigned to “Direct traffic”.
Bounce rate – Percentage of visitors leaving a website after viewing just a single page.
Pages per visit – Average number of pages visited by a visitor during a single session.

You can enter up to 10 domains to generate a traffic report for all these websites including an overview of the Average monthly Visitors, Pages per visit and Bounce rate. In addition the tool will return the averages based on your specific input.

But as you’re reading this article, I’ll hazard a guess that you don’t own the website in question, right?

You’re probably trying to guess how much traffic your competitor gets, and it’s unlikely that they’ll share their Google Analytics with you.

In this post, I’ll run through three ways to get traffic estimates for any website.
Method 1. Use a traffic estimation tool

There are two types of traffic estimation tools:

Tools that estimate total traffic: Visitors to your website can come from all kinds of places: search engines; forums; social media; etc. These tools estimate the total amount of traffic from all sources.
Tools that estimate only organic traffic: Most websites get a good chunk of their traffic from search engines like Google; this is called “organic traffic.” Estimates from these tools don’t take into account traffic from any other sources (e.g., social media) besides organic traffic.

Let’s explore each of these in more detail.
