This slide deck is a technical reference that compares approaches to Obsidian vault design, centered on Ideaverse, PARA, kepano, and Zettelkasten, while also covering LifeOS, Bramses, JG Method, CyanVoxel, Starter Templates, and Shimmering Obsidian. It distinguishes between methodologies, public vaults, and operational layers, organizing them through the lenses of folders versus links, knowledge development versus action management, and minimal versus structured setups. It also presents applications for technical research, writing, and project management, along with a Hybrid Vault proposal that combines PARA’s activity-based classification with Ideaverse’s MOCs. Rather than claiming a single best solution, it recommends starting simple and expanding gradually according to retrieval paths, daily workflows, and the level of configuration one can realistically maintain.
