JetBrains Air is a product system for agentic development, not a standalone IDE. It spans the Air app, Air in IDEs, Air Teams, Governance, Context, and Gateway. Developers can run multiple agents within their existing JetBrains IDEs, isolate work through Git worktrees, Docker, or cloud environments, and then have humans review and integrate diffs, tests, and pull requests. Although Air offers flexibility in choosing agents and models, authentication, pricing, and availability differ between local and cloud environments, and EAP/Preview features are still mixed across the product surfaces. Before adoption, organizations should validate fit through a small proof of concept that considers quality assurance, review overhead, cost, and data boundaries.
