  12. Enabling constraints is what complex adaptive organisms use to manage

the complexity of the world • To let in what feeds them • To interact with symbionts • To keep out what harms them @kvantomme 20
  13. • The economy of scope is about the creation of

reusable shared resources that help your company to: ◦ Accelerate development through improved Developer eXperience ◦ Reduce maintenance and infrastructure costs by reusing those shared resources Beware! The creation of a platform is an oblique goal, your platform team should not be building your platform! Pronovix confidential and proprietary Internal platform portals
  14. 28 @kvantomme - The best way to get a platform,

is to enable its convergence through a stigmergic process on a platform devportal. You have to work on it, but you cannot force it.
  15. • The economy of differentiation is about generating and capturing

value in the market through: ◦ A developer brand that differentiates your organization ◦ Differentiated interfaces that are uniquely fit to a need of a significant market segment Beware! API design will become a utility, eventually differentiation will be on service & brand, not API design! Pronovix confidential and proprietary External portals
  16. APIs will evolve from products to utilities. Today having APIs

might still be a differentiator, but this will really quickly become table stakes. Eventually external APIs will become a utility as designs standardise. @kvantomme 30
  17. Shift from devportals being about APIs only, to devportals that

are their own thing, with a clear broader purpose. 31
  18. There is no need to do an epic split, you

    can have 2 portals instead
  19. If you are trying to build 1 portal for all,

you risk building a flea market with an inherint purpose and architecture conflict. Splitting these 2 functions gives you clarity of purpose: • Internal - Platform portal - encourage reuse • External - Interface portal - intelligent interaction • Processes & tools to bring content from internal to external Pronovix confidential and proprietary Summary
  20. We have helped customers to do all 3. If you

want to learn more, get in touch. @kvantomme 35
