  1. With the short film that we have created, we decided

to follow such conventions involving the props and locations that we were going to use. One quite obvious prop used in countless slasher/horror films is a sharp object for the weapon E.G a knife which is a convention we decided to follow. Also in this genre of film the location would be usually in a freakishly mysterious place cut off from the help of others, we also followed this convention having filmed in a graveyard and a garden shed. Although we did break one convention with our choice of having a female killer, because in other slasher/horror film’s the killer is predominantly male. In what way does your media product use, develop or change forms and conventions of real media products?
  2. Casting Roles... The killer that we used is unconventional to

a slasher/horror film as we used a female character. Although the killer conventionally comes from a troubled background that motivates her to commit such a crime. In conventional horror films the killer is usually male. Whereas our victim is stereotypical to a horror film. We used a female character that fits the role, who is unable to stick up or protect herself.
  3. Title Of The Film.... The short film that we have

created has been named ‘Guess Who?’. The reason that we named our filmed this, is because the last words said in the film are these when the killer say’s it to the victim, so we decided to take it out of the dialogue. The title in itself conforms to the genre of the film. It creates anticipation, tension and adds mystery to the film, for the audience who haven’t yet seen the film. The name leaves people wanting to know and wanting to find out who the person is, this is a convention of a horror film that we decided to follow in order to catch people’s attention. .... Guess Who?
  4. Title Fonts & Styles These are the different types of

fonts that we experimented with for our heading on the film poster. The one that we decided to use is shown below.
  5. Costume & Props Victim The victim had generic clothing on

that someone would wear as a casual look on a regular basis, whereas we encountered some problems whilst making the film as she is wearing two different outfits on the film one in the graveyard and another in the garden shed. Whereas the jacket is the same.
  6. Killer The killer wore the same outfit throughout the film

that conformed really well to the genre of the film. It was all dark coloured clothing and she wore gloves, which are seen to be worn by the killers very often in horror films.
  7. Camera & Editing work The software that we used to

edit our film was Adobe Premiere Pro. It took us a while to get used to navigating the software but we eventually got the hang of it. We used, many different editing techniques in order to give our short film the feel of a horror film.
  8. Recording The piece of equipment that we used to record

all of our film was a Canon HV20. HDV1080i recording with a 1920x1080 Canon True HD CMOS sensor, Instant AF, DIGIC DV II and full connectivity: easily connect to an HD-ready TV set via HDMI to watch your movies in full quality.
