  4. Romans 5:5 “And hope does not disappoint us, because God

has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Heb 11:1 “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
  5. There will be no more gloom for those who were

in distress: v. 2 • The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. v. 6 • For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
  7. Q: Why were these people walking in darkness? Q: When

were we “walking in darkness?” Q: What is the “great light?”

up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope.” 13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Why did Jesus come as a baby in a barn?
  10. “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he

has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
