  2. + Jesus in the Old Testament: Prophecy Psalm 22:16-18, written

    in 998 BC “A company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet—I can count all my bones—they stare and gloat over me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.” Crucifixion wasn‘t invented until around 400 BC... Roughly 600 years after Psalm 22 was written.

    without the cross and the resurrection?
  4. + 1 Corinthians 15: 1-19 Verses 1-2: “Now I would

    remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved…”
  5. + Why are the Cross and Resurrection Crucial to Our

    Faith?  Is the Cross just a good example of dying for what you believe in?  Is the Resurrection a metaphor to explain that Jesus was alive in the hearts and thoughts of his followers?  Do the Cross and Resurrection need to be more than just examples and metaphors?
  6. + 1 Corinthians 15: 1-19 - A Pitiful Faith? Verses

    17 & 19: “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. … If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
  7. + Luke 14 – The Walk to Emmaus “25And he

    said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” 27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.”

    Christian Faith: All of the Bible and history point to the Cross and the Resurrection. All of the Old Testament points to the coming Savior.

    carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted; 5But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

    With God and Each Other In The Garden 2. Our Sin brought about Death and our Separation from God 3. Animals were sacrificed for forgiveness: “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” 4. Jesus leaves heaven to live a perfect life with us 5. On the Cross, Jesus cancels out our Sin, Death, and Separation 6. Jesus‘ Resurrection brings New Life: Perfect Life With God and Each Other
