Think hundreds of devices, gadget geek heaven! • Just cause it works on one model of one device doesn’t mean it works on all • All manufactures have different certification requirements • Chip sets, processors hardware makes a big difference to app performance • Peripheral overkill, bluray remotes, kinects, microphones, USB keyboards. Foxtel Play test lab
  11. 13 | 7 March 2014 Foxtel Play Product Introduction Tips

& Tricks • Don’t let manufacturers certification processes delay your launch! • Know the certification requirements up front before you write any requirements or design your apps • Choose application developers/vendors who have experience and insider contacts. • Add contingency! • Use a community for the techiest of customers to get support • Geeks are customers too, you need a forum for answering what firmware version you support and what to do if you have jailbroken your PS3, what DNS server to set your TV with for the fastest performance, etc • Conduct UAT with everyday users of the device • Xbox lovers will be outraged if you assign the wrong button to a function, know your customers and get the UX right. • Implement Analytics • Know what your customers are doing inside your app at every point, what errors they receive, which pages are most popular, how long they use your product for, this is crucial information when it comes to making big decisions about your future roadmap.
